How do I program my new Dish network remote to my existing receiver?
Q. I lost my original remote to my Dish receiver. We have 2 receivers (4 rooms with dish). I had a spare Dish network remote and I have flipped the plastic colored thing on the bottom to the correct color,(green) but I can't figure out how to program it to the receiver. Can anyone help me?

A. Okay, it's fairly simple. If you have one of our newer dual tuner receivers, there will be a sysinfo button on the front of the receiver, press it. If not, look through the menu screen till you find it(you can use TV2 for this since you have no remote for TV1) Once on that screen there is a section that tells you your remote addresses. All you have to do is press and hold SAT until the lights on top flash, type in 01, 02, etc(whatever the remote address was). Then hit pound. the sat button should flash 3 times to let you know you entered a real command. Your remote should work after that. If it doesn't. or if you don't know what I mean by things like TV1 or TV2, drop me an email and I can go into more detail.

How to get Dish Network signal in 2 bedrooms that are about 10 ft. apart?

Now, TV2 remote consumes more power than the TV remote does, because it's an rf transmitter remote instead of an Infra-red remote like TV1 is...it's signal must pass thru walls, and carry a considerable longer distance than TV1 needs to. Just how old are those batteries? 1 year or older? That's the LIFE of alkaline batteries, but if those batteries are the original ones, you may find you are using CARBON batteries that only last 3 months if you are lucky. You should really replace those batteries no matter what...First and foremost.
